Engineering Manager, Clinical Intelligence
About the Team You will join a team dedicated to removing HME ordering bottlenecks and streamlining the flow of clinical information between prescribers and payors. The team's mission is to eliminate communication friction, deliver coverage policy transparency, and ensure patients receive timely care.
About the Role We are seeking an Engineering Manager to grow our engineers and our engineering practice. You will leverage your deep technical expertise to mentor your team, make informed decisions about technical direction, and provide meaningful feedback in code reviews and architecture discussions.
This role will be responsible for coaching up to 5 engineers, providing strategic technical oversight, and guiding the engineering practices of the team to deliver organizational impact.
Responsibilities Coach and Mentorship: Manage up to 5 engineers, prioritizing their career growth, technical development, and day-to-day support.
Team Execution & Delivery: Take accountability for your team's goals and roadmap execution. Proactively identify and remove blockers to keep projects moving efficiently.
Strategic Technical Oversight: Review Architecture Decision Documents (ADDs), conduct pre-launch risk assessments, and ensure systems align with company goals.
Technical Shaping: Lead early technical discovery, feasibility analysis, and capacity estimation for future projects.
Maintain Relevance: Stay close to the code through regular PR reviews, design discussions, and incident retrospectives
Targeted Contributions: Allocate 10-20% of your time to technical work, prioritizing pairing and targeted tickets over daily feature development.
Engineering Excellence: Guide engineering practices across teams using agile methods, TDD, and robust software design principles.
Stakeholder Management: Act as the primary representative and point of contact for your team, ensuring clear communication with Product, Design, leadership, and cross-functional partners.
Requirements Professional experience with open source programming languages
Minimum of 5 years of experience delivering software in a production environment
Minimum of 3 years of management experience
Must reside in the U.S. Nice to Have Professional experience with Ruby on Rails, React, or TypeScript
Healthcare Interoperability Standards: Exposure to FHIR, HL7, or integrating with major EHR systems (Epic, Cerner, etc.)
Rules Engines & Workflow Automation: Experience building or maintaining rules engines, decision trees, or dynamic form/survey infrastructure
Experience working cross-functionally to improve business process
