Sr. IT Systems Administrator 1
Position As Senior IT Systems Administrator 1, you will be responsible for managing, optimizing, and advancing our IT infrastructure. This role offers an experienced professional the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on our biotechnology company's continued success.
About You You are a seasoned IT systems administrator with a strong foundation in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline — ideally holding certifications such as CompTIA Server+, CompTIA Network+, or CompTIA Security+. You bring advanced experience in systems administration, including complex troubleshooting and team leadership. You are well-positioned to lead the strategic planning, design, deployment, and maintenance of enterprise IT systems.
Your proficiency in compute hardware, operating systems, virtualization platforms, and software applications ensures the scalability, reliability, and performance of critical infrastructure. You approach problems proactively, apply patches and security fixes with discipline, and communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences. You thrive in collaborative environments and take pride in mentoring junior staff and end-users.
What You’ll Do Design, install, configure, and maintain complex IT systems, servers, virtualization environments, and associated hardware and software
Support data center operations, including rack and stack activities, hardware lifecycle management, environmental monitoring, and coordination with facilities and vendors to ensure continuous availability and operational integrity
Ensure the scalability, reliability, and performance of IT infrastructure components
Provide expert-level technical support, resolving complex hardware and software issues efficiently
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve intricate technical challenges
Maintain accurate records of production changes and oversee all maintenance implementations
Manage user account creation, permissions, and access controls in compliance with company policies
Supervise and continuously improve employee onboarding and offboarding workflows
Maintain comprehensive hardware and software inventory records, including license tracking
Document system configurations, processes, and standard operating procedures to ensure consistency and compliance
Implement and maintain IT security measures, including antivirus, firewalls, data encryption, intrusion detection, and vulnerability assessments
Serve as an analyst in security incident response and remediation efforts
Proactively evaluate and apply software updates, patches, and security fixes to maintain system stability
Manage corporate data backup and recovery operations
Partner with IT and cross-departmental teams to ensure seamless operations aligned with organizational objectives
Mentor, train, and guide junior IT staff and end-users
Qualifications Bachelor's degree with 8 years of relevant experience, or a Master's degree with 6 years of relevant experience in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred
